Responsibilities
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and extend Rocket UniVerse and MultiValue ERP applications.
- Lead technical discovery and scope solutions based on customer workflows, data, systems, constraints, and success criteria.
- Own technical delivery from prototypes and design through development, testing, production rollout, stabilization, and customer adoption.
- Investigate complex application, database, integration, business-rule, and operational issues and implement durable fixes.
- Build integrations with third-party systems using REST APIs, web services, secure file exchange, imports, exports, and related methods.
- Develop modernization approaches, diagnostic utilities, conversion programs, data corrections, automation, documentation, reusable components, and deployment playbooks.
- Collaborate directly with customers, product teams, support staff, developers, and analysts, and communicate technical findings to nontechnical audiences.
- Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly for investigation, prototyping, documentation, and testing while validating accuracy and security.
- Provide technical guidance and bring customer feedback into product and development planning.
Requirements
- Substantial professional software development experience, ideally with enterprise, ERP, financial, payroll, public-sector, or transaction-intensive applications.
- Strong backend development and data problem-solving skills, including understanding unfamiliar schemas, data relationships, indexes, and business rules.
- Experience integrating disparate systems through APIs, data exchanges, middleware, or ETL-style processes.
- Experience delivering technical work directly with customers or business stakeholders through discovery, scoping, rollout, and post-deployment support.
- Ability to diagnose systems spanning application code, data, interfaces, infrastructure, and user workflows.
- Experience working across multiple technology stacks and learning unfamiliar languages, tools, or platforms.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills and effective collaboration with technical and nontechnical colleagues.
- Good judgment regarding production changes, data integrity, testing, security, and modification risks in established business applications.
- Preferred experience with Rocket UniVerse, UniData, MultiValue databases, UniVerse BASIC, dictionaries, file structures, indexing, and query tools.
- Preferred experience with modern web development, RESTful services, JSON, XML, authentication, cloud or hosted applications, application modernization, legacy integration, source control, automated testing, or DevOps practices.
- Experience with school district or local government business applications such as financial reporting, general ledger, purchasing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, tax billing, utility billing, planning and zoning, or business licensing is preferred.
