Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and evolution of Order Management capabilities covering order orchestration, inventory availability, fulfilment, returns, and post-purchase experiences.
- Own OMS technical architecture, engineering standards, and key technology decisions.
- Design and build scalable, resilient, API-first, event-driven services for omnichannel commerce use cases.
- Integrate OMS platforms with commerce, ERP, WMS, POS, payment, logistics, carrier, 3PL, and customer service systems.
- Ensure reliable inventory visibility, order processing, fulfilment, and returns workflows across channels and regions.
- Drive engineering excellence through code quality, automated testing, secure development, observability, performance optimization, and reliability practices.
- Mentor and coach engineers through technical guidance, architecture reviews, and hands-on support.
- Drive adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices and automation to improve productivity, quality, and delivery efficiency.
Requirements
- 10+ years of hands-on experience designing and building Order Management capabilities using Java, Spring Boot, or equivalent frameworks.
- 3+ years of experience leading a technical capability, project, or engineering team.
- Experience with enterprise OMS platforms such as Fluent Commerce, IBM Sterling OMS, Manhattan Associates, Kibo Commerce, or Salesforce OMS is highly desirable.
- Strong software engineering experience with Java, Spring Boot, modern microservices architectures, and production-grade scalable services.
- Deep understanding of order capture, sourcing, fulfilment, shipment, returns, exchanges, and post-purchase processes.
- Experience customizing and extending OMS capabilities for omnichannel fulfilment and enterprise integrations.
- Knowledge of Ship-from-Store, Buy Online Pick Up In Store, Ship-to-Store, Curbside Pickup, Endless Aisle, and order-routing strategies.
- Understanding of inventory management, sourcing optimization, fulfilment orchestration, and order allocation across stores, distribution centers, and third-party networks.
- Experience designing OMS-centric microservice architectures across Order Management, Inventory, Sourcing, Fulfilment, Returns, and Customer Service domains.
- Hands-on experience with Kafka or similar event-streaming platforms for asynchronous processing and enterprise integrations.
- Experience with performance engineering, scalability testing, capacity planning, resiliency, and scaling strategies for high-throughput commerce platforms.
- Experience establishing engineering standards, mentoring engineers, and influencing technical direction across cross-functional teams.
- Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools, coding agents, and LLM-powered development workflows.
