Base Salary
$180k - $290k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build key components of Stellar Core, the backbone software behind the Stellar Network.
- Develop robust, scalable, and extensible technologies for developers and network participants.
- Design new architectures and subsystems with the CTO, engineering team, and open-source community.
- Write clean, maintainable code with careful edge-case analysis and future-proofing.
- Own core Stellar Core subsystems and help deliver critical product milestones.
- Participate in code reviews and design discussions and contribute to engineering best practices.
- Investigate and refactor performance bottlenecks to scale the system.
- Author detailed technical feature and protocol RFC specifications.
- Work on peer-to-peer networking, processing performance, decentralization, node-failure resilience, incentive mechanics, formal consensus models, verification, simulation, and distributed and multicore scalability.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of experience developing software on a team.
- BS or MS in Computer Science or an equivalent field.
- Production experience writing modern C++ or Rust.
- Strong understanding of software design patterns and reusable, extensible, modular components.
- Experience with performance debugging and benchmarking.
- Ability to communicate effectively and lead technical discussions during design and code review.
- Knowledge of development best practices and development tools.
- Bonus: direct experience designing and implementing distributed systems.
- Bonus: curiosity about blockchain technologies and cryptocurrencies and understanding of their fundamentals.
