Responsibilities
- Design and implement product features end to end, including researching problems, writing product specifications, creating wireframes, and shipping code.
- Solve challenging product-design problems across Ashby’s recruiting platform.
- Expand and improve Ashby’s in-house design system by creating flexible, composable components.
- Consult with Product Engineers on bespoke design work and improve information hierarchy, scannability, and usability.
- Gather feedback by shipping to subsets of users, including Ashby’s internal recruiting team, and iterate on solutions.
- Collaborate through prototyping, written proposals, pair programming, design-system specifications, and deliberate communication.
- Contribute to customer issue investigations and help maintain high-quality software.
Requirements
- No more than two years of industry experience as a designer or engineer.
- Projects, personal or professional, with at least a couple of users that demonstrate strong visual taste and developing ability in both UI/UX and engineering.
- Good proficiency with TypeScript, React, and CSS.
- Ability or interest in designing products and shipping code, with backend proficiency considered a plus.
- Strong visual-design execution and willingness to work across both design and engineering.
- Candidates should be comfortable with substantial project ownership, rapid iteration, customer issues, and investigations.
