Responsibilities
- Design and build advertising and marketing platform features that help eBay sellers and advertisers grow their businesses.
- Develop scalable, highly available applications, APIs, and services using Marko, React, Node.js, Java, and Scala.
- Own complex features end to end from technical design and architecture through deployment and production support.
- Drive system design, architectural decisions, technical tradeoffs, and cross-team alignment for multi-service features.
- Use AI-assisted development tools for coding, debugging, testing, and code review.
- Collaborate with ML engineers on LLM integrations, recommendation systems, and intelligent campaign optimization.
- Mentor team members, participate in technical discussions, and help shape engineering best practices.
Requirements
- BS/BA in Computer Science or a related field plus seven years of work experience, or an MS with six years of relevant experience.
- Strong experience building modern web applications at scale with React or similar frameworks, HTML/CSS, RESTful APIs, and responsive design.
- Experience with relational databases such as Oracle, Postgres, or MySQL and/or NoSQL databases such as Cassandra or MongoDB, including schema design and query optimization.
- Proven ability to own end-to-end system design, write technical design documents, lead design reviews, and make architectural decisions.
- Experience designing scalable distributed systems and evaluating consistency, availability, latency, and cost tradeoffs.
- Experience with AI-assisted development practices and tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Claude Code.
- Experience building or integrating LLM-powered features, agentic workflows, or AI-driven automation in production systems is a plus.
- Exposure to GraphQL and experience building Federated GraphQL APIs is highly desirable.
- Open-source contribution experience is a plus.
- Strong ownership and ability to drive work end to end in a collaborative environment.
