Responsibilities
- Design and build advertising and marketing platform features that help eBay sellers and advertisers grow their businesses.
- Build scalable, reliable services and systems infrastructure using distributed systems, network design, and large-scale database expertise.
- Research, analyze, design, develop, test, and document solutions aligned with business and technology strategies.
- Own software engineering and product development activities while maintaining high coding and quality standards.
- Partner with developers, product managers, QA, analysts, and operations teams to deliver scalable and fault-tolerant solutions.
- Participate in design discussions, project meetings, prototyping, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement.
- Develop technical expertise in relevant products and technologies and contribute technical leadership.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science or a related field plus seven years of work experience, or a master’s degree plus six years of relevant experience.
- A degree in computer science or engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
- Five to ten years of proven experience with backend technologies.
- Expertise with server-side languages and frameworks including Java, Spring, Spring Boot, Python, and NodeJS.
- Proficiency with messaging systems such as Kafka and RabbitMQ.
- Experience designing, documenting, and developing REST APIs and microservices.
- Experience working with large datasets in relational and NoSQL databases, including Oracle, MySQL, Couchbase, and MongoDB.
- Understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and JSON.
- Experience with JUnit and Mockito is a plus.
- Experience with Agile software methodologies is desirable.
- Strong testing, debugging, analytical, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments and with small remote teams.
- Comfort working with Git in a CI/CD environment.
