Responsibilities
- Analyze operational measurements and metrics and define metric-exchange agreements with service owners.
- Map, validate, normalize, enrich, and maintain monitoring data and metric definitions.
- Implement automated data-quality checks and investigate missing, delayed, duplicated, inconsistent, or otherwise faulty measurements.
- Supervise operational data ingestion and maintain logs, traceability, data lineage, mappings, and configuration.
- Support dashboards, reports, alerts, interface testing, change requests, releases, and operational deployments.
- Prepare operating procedures, data definitions, user documentation, service reports, and knowledge-transfer materials.
- Collaborate with integration engineers, service owners, and the central monitoring-platform team.
Requirements
- A university degree in data engineering, computer science, information systems, or equivalent professional experience.
- At least 3–5 years of experience in data engineering, operational monitoring of complex systems, data quality, or scientific-data systems.
- Strong SQL skills and practical experience with Python or another scripting language.
- Experience building or maintaining data-ingestion or ETL/ELT workflows and validating, transforming, and normalizing data.
- Understanding of metadata, data models, schema mapping, APIs, and structured formats including JSON, XML, and CSV.
- Ability to document data definitions and operational procedures clearly.
- Professional working proficiency in English.
- Desirable: knowledge of Earth Observation, Earth Explorer or Heritage Missions, VHR satellites, time-series data and databases, monitoring or observability platforms, scientific or operational datasets, data catalogues, metadata repositories, statistical analysis, anomaly detection, or satellite and ground-segment operations.
