Responsibilities
- Design, build, and scale backend services for document processing and workflow automation.
- Develop asynchronous pipelines and distributed systems for high-volume data processing.
- Build and maintain AWS infrastructure and queueing systems such as SQS.
- Improve system availability, fault tolerance, observability, performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
- Build structured and unstructured data processing systems, APIs, and internal services.
- Integrate external OCR and AI model services where appropriate.
- Collaborate with product, frontend, and customer-facing teams to deliver scalable product features.
- Own backend architecture decisions, mentor engineers, and improve engineering practices, testing, and deployment processes.
Requirements
- 4–7+ years of experience building and scaling backend systems.
- Strong proficiency with backend frameworks such as Node.js, Django, or similar.
- Experience designing distributed systems and asynchronous processing pipelines.
- Solid experience with AWS and cloud infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of system performance, reliability, and observability.
- Experience building production-grade APIs and services.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth startup and collaborate across teams.
- Bonus: experience with data processing or ETL pipelines, document processing, OCR, AI/ML integrations, queueing systems, event-driven architectures, high-throughput systems, or financial services and B2B SaaS.
