Responsibilities
- Build and operate CDC and streaming pipelines with Kafka, Debezium, Spark streaming, and Delta, including replay, restream, and ingestion SLAs.
- Manage the Databricks data platform, Unity Catalog, warehouses, Terraform, CI/CD, and DAB deployments for data infrastructure.
- Build the serving layer with gRPC services, transition batch workloads to real-time inference, and improve visibility into LLM latency and cost.
- Evolve the feature store and MLflow practices and partner with data science to productionize proofs of concept.
- Use AI-assisted engineering tools to build, test, and operate systems and share effective practices with the team.
- Collaborate with data engineering, data science, and product engineering to create reliable systems based on customer needs.
- Participate in the team on-call rotation and help improve system reliability over time.
Requirements
- Production experience with distributed streaming systems, Kafka, and CDC.
- Hands-on experience with Spark and Delta.
- Strong Python and SQL skills.
- Experience with container infrastructure such as Docker, ECS, or Kubernetes.
- Infrastructure-as-code experience, ideally with Terraform.
- Solid data modeling fundamentals and comfort participating in an on-call schedule.
- Experience experimenting with AI tools in an engineering workflow and sharing learnings with teammates.
- Ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment.
- Bonus experience with Unity Catalog governance, MLflow, feature stores, LLM serving, Protobuf event contracts, or Postgres internals.
