Base Salary
$135k - $200k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build and operate backend services, APIs, asynchronous jobs, workflows, and data flows for member communications.
- Integrate ML- and AI-backed capabilities into production product workflows with reliable interfaces and failure handling.
- Improve distributed-system correctness and operability using retries, idempotency, versioning, graceful degradation, dashboards, and structured logging.
- Own features from planning through implementation, testing, rollout, and follow-up.
- Trace and resolve issues across APIs, services, queues, databases, model-backed components, and data dependencies.
- Participate in code reviews, design documentation, pairing, onboarding support, on-call, and incident response.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of non-internship, full-time professional software engineering experience.
- Experience building and operating backend services or distributed systems in production, including APIs, asynchronous processing, event-driven systems, workflows, or data-intensive services.
- Professional experience with at least one production programming language such as Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, Go, Java, Kotlin, or a comparable language.
- Experience with software testing, observability, deployment, or production support.
- Preferred experience integrating ML- or AI-backed services into production products.
- Preferred experience with AWS or another cloud platform, Docker, Kafka, PostgreSQL, asynchronous processing, workflow orchestration, event-driven systems, or long-running state.
- Preferred familiarity with model deployment, inference, model versioning, Temporal, Step Functions, Kubernetes, Airflow, generative AI, LLMs, retrieval, agents, or evaluation systems.
- Experience in healthcare, digital health, fintech, or another regulated or data-sensitive domain is preferred.
