Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of new Linux kernel functionality in BPF, networking, and/or security.
- Bring new Linux kernel functionality into Cilium and/or Tetragon.
- Collaborate with a small technical team and actively participate in the upstream Linux kernel community.
- Work across engineering, product, and customer teams to align technical direction with business needs.
- Contribute to engineering best practices, code quality, and operational excellence.
- Present technical work at conferences such as KubeCon, Linux Plumbers, LSF/MM, and BPF events.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
- At least two years of upstream Linux kernel experience.
- At least five years of experience programming in C.
- A public track record of open-source code commits.
- Expertise in Linux systems design, performance, security, networking, and/or the Linux kernel is preferred.
- At least five years of upstream Linux kernel experience is preferred.
- Experience with C, BPF, and Go is preferred.
- Experience designing and implementing APIs is preferred.
- Experience with production systems at scale and a networking background is preferred.
- Experience with Kubernetes, cloud-native workloads, and/or distributed systems is preferred.
