Base Salary

$141k - $208k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design and build platform services for authentication, authorization, audit, RBAC/ReBAC, token issuance, session handling, and authorization SDKs.
  • Model permissions, resources, roles, relationships, and policies across ClickHouse, SQL Console, ClickPipes, and HyperDX.
  • Implement SAML, SCIM, OIDC, OAuth2, MFA, and passwordless flows for enterprise SSO and provisioning.
  • Build telemetry pipelines that make authorization decisions observable, queryable, and available to customers.
  • Partner with product engineering teams to migrate bespoke authentication systems to the shared platform and create easy-to-adopt APIs.
  • Participate in the platform on-call rotation and own production reliability for systems critical to customer requests.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of experience building production backend systems at scale.
  • Proficiency with at least one systems language: Go, Rust, or C++, and one application language: TypeScript or Python.
  • Hands-on experience designing and implementing authentication or authorization services such as token issuers, OIDC or OAuth2 providers, policy engines, permissions models, or FGA/ReBAC systems.
  • Working knowledge of SAML, SCIM, OIDC, and OAuth2 at the protocol level.
  • Experience designing adoptable APIs and SDKs for other engineers.
  • Experience operating distributed systems at scale, including caching, consistency tradeoffs, and multi-region concerns.
  • Familiarity with identity vendors or services including Auth0, WorkOS, and AWS, GCP, or Azure IAM.
  • Strong production debugging skills and a focus on maintainable developer-facing systems.
  • Bonus experience with Zanzibar-style authorization systems, OpenFGA, SpiceDB, multi-tenant permission models, or broadly adopted internal SDKs.
