
Senior Specialty Software Engineer - Java, E-Trading

- Lead or participate in complex software engineering initiatives and provide technical guidance on supported systems.
- Design, implement, optimize, test, debug, document, and support low-latency Java applications for electronic trading.
- Develop and maintain exchange connectivity protocols and integrate systems with internal and external components.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in real-time trading environments.
- Collaborate with product managers, traders, operations teams, peers, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and resolve issues.
- Ensure adherence to coding practices, architectural standards, exchange-specific rules, regulatory requirements, risk controls, security, and compliance.
- Review and improve system architecture, processes, and technology to increase efficiency.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of specialty software engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education.
- At least 3 years of experience designing, implementing, and optimizing low-latency, high-throughput Java applications for financial trading.
- Experience with electronic or algorithmic trading is required.
- Strong proficiency in Java 8+ and hands-on experience with multithreaded and distributed systems.
- Experience with exchange connectivity protocols such as FIX, ITCH, and OUCH.
- Experience with messaging systems and real-time data processing.
- Knowledge of low-latency optimization, including garbage collection tuning and efficient data structures.
- Familiarity with financial markets, trading systems, exchange platforms, and trading regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Experience with automated testing frameworks such as Karate and Cucumber, CI/CD pipelines, and version control such as Git.
- Willingness to work in electronic trading areas including exchange connectivity, algorithmic trading, or time-series databases.
