Vice President, DevOps / Application Infrastructure Backend Engineer

Responsibilities
- Administer and support middleware and application workloads, including Apache HTTP Server, NGINX, Tomcat, Java/Spring Boot, and Angular applications on Linux and Windows.
- Support AWS infrastructure and EKS networking, including EC2, load balancers, VPCs, subnets, security groups, ingress, storage, and secrets.
- Build, deploy, and support containerized applications using Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, and Git-based deployment processes.
- Create and maintain Dockerfiles, container images, image repositories, and container security and optimization practices.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD, AWS CodePipeline, or comparable platforms, incorporating Maven, Ant, and npm.
- Provision and manage infrastructure with Terraform and Ansible and develop operational automation using Bash, Shell scripting, and Python.
- Monitor application and infrastructure health with Datadog, Splunk, and Amazon CloudWatch.
- Troubleshoot production infrastructure, middleware, networking, deployments, and Java application performance issues.
- Participate in incident response, root-cause analysis, problem management, disaster recovery, high-availability planning, and 24x7 on-call support.
- Maintain runbooks, operational procedures, architecture documentation, troubleshooting guides, and knowledge-base articles while collaborating with application, infrastructure, security, and operations teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
- 5-9 years of work experience in similar skills, including at least 3-5 years in DevOps, middleware administration, application infrastructure, vulnerability remediation, cloud engineering, or production support.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or Professional certification, with AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or equivalent also noted.
- Enterprise production experience with Amazon EKS and Kubernetes application deployment using Helm and GitOps practices.
- Experience with Kubernetes secrets management, networking, ingress, load balancing, storage, persistent volumes, vulnerability management, container lifecycle management, and multi-environment deployments.
- Experience supporting Linux and Windows servers and Java/Spring Boot applications in production.
- Experience administering Apache HTTP Server, NGINX, Tomcat, or comparable middleware.
- Practical AWS infrastructure and networking experience with EC2, load balancers, VPCs, subnets, and security groups.
- Hands-on experience with Docker, Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows, automated builds, testing, security scanning, and deployment practices.
- Strong Bash/Shell and Python scripting skills.
- Experience with Datadog, Splunk, CloudWatch, production incident management, root-cause analysis, disaster recovery, and highly available environments.
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and collaboration skills, plus willingness to participate in a 24x7 on-call production-support rotation.
