Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable web applications using Kotlin, JavaScript, and related technologies across the full technology stack.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to deliver high-quality software and collective ownership of product outcomes.
- Contribute to requirements gathering, design, development, deployment, production support, monitoring, and ongoing improvement.
- Participate in pair programming, code reviews, technical discussions, agile ceremonies, and collaborative design activities.
- Champion engineering practices including Test-Driven Development, Continuous Integration, and Continuous Delivery.
- Own production applications by monitoring performance, diagnosing issues, resolving support queries, and contributing to blameless post-mortems.
- Lead technical discussions, influence system architecture, define non-functional requirements, and explain solution trade-offs.
- Mentor and coach junior developers, support onboarding, provide actionable feedback, and participate in recruiting and applicant assessment.
- Promote experimentation, learning from failures, and diversity, equity, and inclusion within the team.
Requirements
- Several years of software development experience and a proactive, collaborative approach.
- Experience developing web applications across the full technology stack.
- Strong experience with Kotlin, JavaScript, and related software development technologies.
- Ability to contribute across the software development lifecycle, including design, deployment, production support, and monitoring.
- Experience or interest in engineering best practices such as Test-Driven Development, pair programming, code reviews, and CI/CD.
- Ability to lead technical discussions, understand business requirements, influence architecture, and assess solution trade-offs.
- Ability to mentor junior developers and collaborate effectively with product, technology, production, editorial, and other stakeholders.
- Good command of English and strong communication and collaboration skills.
