Responsibilities
- Architect and build a comprehensive testing strategy that balances manual oversight with scalable automation.
- Develop automated test suites using Playwright for web and XCUITest/Espresso for mobile apps.
- Partner early with Product, Design, and Engineering to identify potential issues during the requirements and design phases.
- Serve as the primary contact for offshore QA teams, providing technical guidance and reviewing test plans.
- Identify bottlenecks in the development lifecycle and implement process improvements.
- Work within an Agile environment to provide feedback and participate in code reviews and sprint planning.
- Demonstrate support for the value of journalistic independence and commitment to the company's mission.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in software quality engineering, with at least 2 years in a Senior or Lead capacity.
- Experience building and scaling test frameworks using Playwright or equivalent tools.
- Hands-on experience with native mobile automation tools, specifically XCUITest and Espresso.
- Command of at least one modern programming language such as JavaScript/TypeScript, Swift, or Kotlin.
- Experience with exploratory testing, regression testing, and test case management.
- Experience collaborating and communicating with cross-functional teams.
