Responsibilities
- Define and drive frontend architecture for the customer purchase journey, including component design, state management, rendering strategy, and application structure.
- Build customer-facing web experiences end-to-end, including pixel-perfect UI implementation, API integration, error handling, and production monitoring.
- Own frontend performance and reliability, including Core Web Vitals, load time, rendering performance, and resilience during backend or third-party degradation.
- Lead the evolution of shared component libraries and design systems with a focus on consistency, accessibility, and developer ergonomics.
- Partner with product and design to shape maintainable, performant, and accessible interaction patterns and UX decisions.
- Drive cross-team frontend initiatives and establish standards adopted by other customer-facing engineering teams.
- Conduct code and design reviews, write frontend architectural decision records, and establish engineering quality practices.
- Mentor senior frontend engineers and support their architectural thinking, design system judgment, and customer-experience ownership.
- Champion accessibility, inclusive design, and pragmatic AI-assisted development across the UI development lifecycle.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- 12+ years of frontend engineering experience with senior staff-level or equivalent technical scope and demonstrated organization-wide influence.
- Deep expertise in WebGL, GSAP, Framer, Astro, React, and TypeScript, including advanced patterns, performance optimization, and large-scale application architecture.
- Proven experience owning and evolving component libraries or design systems at scale.
- Strong UX and interaction design instincts, including the ability to translate design intent into maintainable implementations.
- Mastery of frontend performance concepts including Core Web Vitals, SSR, SSG, CSR, code splitting, and bundle optimization.
- Deep understanding of WCAG and practical experience building accessible, inclusive experiences.
- Track record of leading frontend technical strategy, authoring RFCs, conducting architecture reviews, and influencing stakeholders.
- Preferred experience includes AI/ML platform foundations or developer AI tooling, automotive or consumer products, multi-tenant platforms, shared enterprise services, micro frontend architecture, and mobile platform foundations using iOS, Android, or React Native.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain frontend tradeoffs to product, design, and engineering stakeholders.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel domestically.
