Responsibilities
- Design and build backend services for decisioning, execution, capacity, job orchestration, carrier selection, real-time tracking, and post-purchase workflows
- Own complex systems from architecture through deployment, observability, and continuous production performance work
- Build and harden integrations with carrier networks, fleet systems, and partner APIs
- Collaborate with frontend, product, design, data, and operations partners to encode real-world workflows
- Improve transaction and policy infrastructure for accuracy, performance, and resilience
- Raise standards for documentation, testing, code quality, and incident response
- Make pragmatic technical decisions that advance the business without creating fragile complexity
Requirements
- 5+ years building and shipping backend systems in production with ownership of services handling real load
- Strong proficiency in Python and modern backend frameworks
- Experience with relational databases including PostgreSQL and AWS RDS
- Experience with AWS, managed cloud services, and production deployment infrastructure
- Strong scalable system design and performance optimization skills
- Experience with Go or TypeScript is a plus
- Experience with AsyncIO, event-driven architectures, or integration-heavy systems is a bonus
- Familiarity with risk, security, or compliance-driven domains is a bonus
- Experience building distributed systems processing large transaction volumes with strict reliability requirements is a bonus
- Exposure to AI or rule-based automation systems in operational contexts is a bonus
- Prior startup experience is a bonus but not required
