Responsibilities

  • Own reliability, correctness, performance, security-related behavior, and user experience quality for assigned AI Gateway features and services.
  • Create test strategies from incomplete requirements, identify risks, and make explicit coverage and trade-off decisions.
  • Design and implement maintainable automated test suites, frameworks, harnesses, fixtures, and service virtualization.
  • Use LLM-based tools and coding agents for test scaffolding, data generation, code navigation, and failure analysis while validating their output.
  • Test AI Gateway provider API compatibility, policy enforcement, actions, and logging across the gateway data path.
  • Debug failures spanning microservices, asynchronous workflows, Kubernetes networking, TLS, proxies, and CI infrastructure.
  • Integrate and troubleshoot automated tests in CI/CD with appropriate parallelization, execution time, reporting, and signal-to-noise.
  • Participate in shared production on-call, monitor service health, and resolve critical production issues.
  • Collaborate with developers and product managers on testability, instrumentation, defect prevention, triage, and systemic fixes.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in software quality engineering, SDET, or test automation, including 5+ years with distributed systems, cloud services, or security/networking products.
  • Strong software engineering and automation development skills in Python or Golang.
  • Practical experience using LLM-based tools or coding agents in engineering work and evaluating their limitations.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently drive ambiguous problems to working solutions and isolate complex root causes.
  • Extensive hands-on experience testing REST APIs, microservices, and asynchronous workflows.
  • Deep knowledge of test strategy, risk-based testing, layered test design, and coverage trade-offs.
  • Experience building and troubleshooting CI/CD pipelines and the infrastructure supporting large test suites.
  • Strong experience running and testing services with Docker and Kubernetes, including networking, service discovery, and configuration troubleshooting.
  • Working knowledge of HTTP/S, TLS, proxy and gateway concepts, DNS, and AI Gateway deployment failure modes.
  • Experience with defect isolation, triage, tracking, and tools such as Jira.
  • Ability to collaborate technically with developers and communicate risks and trade-offs clearly to product managers, with exceptional written and verbal English.
  • BS in Computer Science or an equivalent degree required.
  • MS in Computer Science or an equivalent degree is strongly preferred.
  • Preferred experience includes LLM provider APIs such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or Bedrock; AWS, Azure, or GCP; hybrid and on-premises deployments; performance and load testing; resilience testing; and Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry.
