Responsibilities
- Define architecture for local and remote development environments, devcontainers, remote IDEs, remote machines, and the local-to-remote development loop.
- Build and scale monorepo developer tooling across DoorDash, Wolt, and Deliveroo.
- Provision production-shaped environments, synchronize state over networks, and operate remote development infrastructure for thousands of concurrent engineers.
- Design on-demand, parallel, and secure sandboxes for AI agents accessible through IDEs, CLIs, or Slack.
- Set technical direction and translate ambiguous company-wide developer-experience problems into sequenced technical strategies.
- Align Security, Infrastructure, and Product Engineering teams around cross-cutting technical problems.
- Mentor engineers, run design reviews, provide architectural guidance, and raise the engineering bar through code review and pairing.
- Lead interview loops, calibrate hiring decisions, and support onboarding of senior hires.
Requirements
- Track record of shipping production systems and leading cross-team initiatives with group-level impact from design through production and adoption.
- Hands-on fluency with Go, Python, TypeScript, and Terraform.
- Experience managing compute with Kubernetes, including multi-tenant workload isolation, autoscaling ephemeral workloads, and cost management, or experience with lightweight VM/sandbox technologies such as Firecracker.
- Working knowledge of cloud networking, including securely and cost-effectively routing traffic across network boundaries using technologies such as VPNs and service meshes.
- Experience integrating LLM or AI tooling into developer workflows, such as Claude Code, locally and remotely.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and align teams without formal authority.
- Experience building close working relationships with engineering teams that consume a platform.
- Preferred experience with developer platforms, devcontainers, remote development, remote IDE backends, or developer workstation tooling.
- Preferred practical experience with JetBrains remote-backend flows, Codespaces, Codeserver-style products, or equivalent.
- Preferred experience with remote build or execution systems such as BuildBuddy or large-scale build caching.
