Responsibilities
- Support long-term solution architecture strategy, technology roadmaps, architecture principles, technical standards, reference architectures, ADRs, engineering guardrails, and governance.
- Design cloud-native solutions using Microsoft Azure, Kubernetes, containers, serverless computing, APIs, event-driven architectures, and distributed systems.
- Define enterprise AI architecture for LLMs, RAG, AI agents, MCP, vector databases, prompt orchestration, intelligent automation, and Responsible AI.
- Partner with Data & AI teams on reusable AI platforms, governance, model integration, and AI engineering standards.
- Lead cloud migration, application modernization, platform engineering, technical debt reduction, API modernization, microservices adoption, and platform consolidation.
- Design Internal Developer Platforms, shared services, developer enablement capabilities, and engineering accelerators.
- Define enterprise integration, API management, event streaming, messaging, interoperability, FHIR/HL7, and secure service communication strategies.
- Establish enterprise data architecture principles supporting Microsoft Fabric, cloud data platforms, analytics, data products, streaming, governance, and interoperability.
- Lead architecture reviews, technical assessments, proof-of-concepts, design workshops, technology evaluations, and solution design activities.
- Define standards for security, Zero Trust, identity, API security, secrets, software supply chain security, privacy, compliance, resilience, observability, and operational excellence.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to project teams and less-experienced colleagues, and lead Technical Architecture Communities of Practice.
- Collaborate with Product Management, Product Engineering, Platform Engineering, Data & AI, Security, Infrastructure, Enterprise Architecture, and executive leadership.
- Establish architecture health metrics, identify risks and constraints, recommend mitigations, and support technology councils and strategic investment decisions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline, with equivalent experience considered.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in Software Engineering, Solution Architecture, Technical Architecture, Platform Engineering, or related engineering disciplines.
- 5+ years designing enterprise-scale SaaS platforms, digital products, APIs, cloud-native applications, distributed systems, and enterprise integrations.
- Deep expertise in enterprise software architecture, cloud-native design, distributed systems, APIs, microservices, integration architecture, and modern software engineering.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure, Kubernetes, containers, Infrastructure as Code, Platform Engineering, and modern application architecture.
- Strong understanding of Domain-Driven Design, Event-Driven Architecture, CQRS, Event Sourcing, Clean Architecture, Hexagonal Architecture, API-first design, and enterprise integration.
- Experience with Azure OpenAI, OpenAI APIs, AI agents, RAG, intelligent automation, machine learning services, Responsible AI, AI governance, and secure AI software development.
- Experience with enterprise data architecture, cloud data services, data governance, integration platforms, analytics ecosystems, Zero Trust, identity management, privacy, compliance, and software supply chain security.
- Demonstrated success supporting architecture strategies, roadmaps, engineering standards, reusable frameworks, modernization initiatives, architecture reviews, governance, and proof-of-concepts.
- Preferred experience includes healthcare, life sciences, clinical research, digital health, medical devices, or other highly regulated industries.
- Preferred experience includes Anthropic Claude, Google Vertex AI, vector databases, Azure Kubernetes Service, Azure API Management, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Landing Zones, Azure DevOps, GitHub Enterprise, GitHub Actions, Terraform, Bicep, Docker, Helm, developer portals, and observability platforms.
- Preferred familiarity includes OpenTelemetry, Azure Monitor, Datadog, Dynatrace, Grafana, Prometheus, Elastic, GitHub Copilot Enterprise, GitHub Models, Cursor, Claude Code, Windsurf, ChatGPT Enterprise, and equivalent tools.
- Relevant preferred certifications include TOGAF, Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert, AWS Solutions Architect Professional, Google Professional Cloud Architect, CKA, CKAD, or equivalent architecture certifications.
- Excellent communication, presentation, technical leadership, executive influence, stakeholder management, mentoring, and organizational influence skills without direct management authority.
