Base Salary
$180k - $230k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain high-performance microservices and stream-processing pipelines for risk management, regulatory reporting, and clearing.
- Architect scalable infrastructure to ingest and transform market data feeds.
- Optimize data models and workflows across the trade lifecycle, including capture, netting, and settlement.
- Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, data freshness, and overall system resilience.
- Enforce code quality, test automation, and software development lifecycle best practices.
- Identify functional bottlenecks and cost inefficiencies through performance profiling.
- Translate complex requirements into technical specifications with product managers, quants, and risk managers.
- Drive the evolution of the platform’s target-state architecture and mentor teammates.
Requirements
- 6+ years of engineering experience supporting front-office trading systems at a regulated financial institution.
- Advanced proficiency in Java.
- Implementation experience with Aeron and Kafka middleware.
- Expertise designing data structures, event schemas, and database models.
- Proficiency managing SQL and NoSQL data stores, including Postgres, Redis, or MongoDB.
- Deep understanding of testing methodologies, high-availability and disaster-recovery strategies, and software development lifecycle best practices.
- Familiarity with using large language models such as Claude or Gemini to accelerate development while maintaining engineering standards.
- Strong ownership, outcome orientation, adaptability, collaboration, mentorship, and knowledge-sharing skills.
- Nice-to-have experience with AWS, GCP, Kubernetes, Docker, Airflow, dbt, FIX, FIXML, Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery, Tableau, or Superset.
