Responsibilities
- Develop reinforcement-learning algorithms that enable robots to execute motor commands autonomously from raw sensor input.
- Design, test, and refine algorithms for real-world locomotion, autonomy, and manipulation tasks.
- Collaborate with computer vision and imitation-learning teams using simulated and real-world data.
- Implement deployment-ready code optimized for robotic hardware constraints.
- Lead and mentor a team of software engineers.
- Advise product managers and executives on strategic technical decisions.
- Create and maintain documentation, guidelines, and engineering best practices.
Requirements
- Master’s degree or higher in engineering, robotics, machine learning, or a related field.
- At least five years of industry or research experience, with applicable PhD experience accepted.
- Strong knowledge of deep learning, supervised and self-supervised learning, reinforcement learning, Markov Decision Processes, policy optimization, model-based and model-free reinforcement learning, exploration-exploitation, value functions, transfer learning, domain adaptation, and sim-to-real transfer.
- Strong robotics background in autonomy and/or manipulation.
- Experience deploying artificial neural networks on hardware platforms.
- Ability to write production-level modern C++.
- Ability to prototype algorithms and train deep neural networks in Python.
- Preferred: PhD in robotics, engineering, computer science, machine learning, or a similar discipline, or equivalent research experience.
- Preferred: Publications at top-tier conferences.
- Preferred: Experience managing a software team.
