Responsibilities

  • Define target and transitional architectures for microservices-based systems, including domain boundaries, service contracts, data ownership, and deployment topologies.
  • Create architecture artifacts including context diagrams, sequence diagrams, service interaction models, API specifications, and deployment topologies.
  • Provide hands-on guidance on service decomposition, API design, data modeling, and cloud-native implementation.
  • Establish engineering standards, reference implementations, reusable templates, and microservices governance guardrails.
  • Conduct architecture reviews, threat modeling, design walkthroughs, technical risk management, and remediation planning.
  • Partner with platform and DevOps teams on CI/CD pipelines, container orchestration, runtime policies, and observability.
  • Align technical roadmaps with business outcomes and OKRs and communicate architectural trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Evaluate technologies and managed services, perform proofs of concept and ROI assessments, and advance domain-driven design.
  • Mentor engineers and junior architects and lead architecture programs through production, including monolith-to-microservices migrations.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering or architecture and 4+ years designing and delivering microservices at scale.
  • Strong proficiency in Domain-Driven Design, bounded contexts, service granularity, RESTful and gRPC API design, and event-driven patterns.
  • Experience with Kafka, Pulsar, SNS/SQS, or similar eventing technologies.
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP and cloud services such as ECS, EKS, AKS, GKE, API Gateway, Lambda, Functions, and IAM.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Istio or Linkerd, ingress, polyglot persistence, streaming, and microservices data architecture.
  • Knowledge of reliability and scalability patterns including circuit breakers, bulkheads, timeouts, retries, rate limiting, and caching.
  • Experience with OpenTelemetry, Prometheus/Grafana, ELK, Jaeger, or Zipkin for observability.
  • Experience with GitOps, Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or CloudFormation, security scanning, and secrets management.
  • Solid experience with at least one modern language and framework such as Java/Spring Boot, .NET, Node.js, Go, or Python/FastAPI.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex programs from architecture through production, including migration from monoliths to microservices.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Preferred experience includes regulated or high-availability domains, zero-downtime deployments, blue/green and canary strategies, feature flags, progressive delivery, API management, developer portals, OAuth2/OIDC, mTLS, secrets rotation, tokenization, threat modeling, performance engineering, schema evolution, multi-region active-active architectures, and disaster recovery.

Benefits
