Base Salary
$172k - $258k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build and improve services behind incremental static regeneration, partial prerendering, and image optimization across the serving path.
- Execute projects independently from implementation through feature flags, shadow modes, progressive deployment, and post-ship validation.
- Monitor and maintain production systems by building dashboards and adding metrics and alerts.
- Contribute to dashboards, log views, and end-to-end test suites for observability and reliability.
- Participate in the on-call rotation and contribute to incident follow-ups.
- Collaborate with Next.js, CI/CD, and other partner teams through design discussions, code review, and pairing.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience building and operating backend services in production.
- Proficiency in Go, TypeScript/Node.js, or a comparable systems language.
- Solid understanding of HTTP and web fundamentals, including caching headers, request/response lifecycles, and proxies.
- Ability to write tested, instrumented, and documented production code.
- Curiosity about large-scale systems and willingness to investigate unfamiliar code and production data.
- Collaborative communication, strong questioning, and reliable follow-through.
- Experience with caching systems such as CDNs, Redis, Memcached, or application-level caches is a bonus.
- AWS experience, particularly S3 or ElastiCache, is a bonus.
- Experience with Next.js or another modern web framework and rendering modes such as SSR, SSG, and ISR is a bonus.
- Experience with Datadog, Honeycomb, or similar observability tooling is a bonus.
- Experience with Terraform or Kubernetes is a bonus.
