Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and operate distributed services supporting real-time ad selection and candidate retrieval.
- Architect low-latency, highly available, high-throughput ad-serving systems in a cloud environment.
- Build secure, scalable data-processing pipelines for petabyte-scale datasets and high-volume workloads.
- Develop performant services, observability capabilities, and flexible systems for engineering and business stakeholders.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, infrastructure, indexing, search, serving, operations, and program management partners.
- Write clean, efficient, documented code, participate in code reviews, and mentor other engineers.
- Apply algorithmic search, machine learning, natural language processing, or artificial intelligence to challenging retrieval problems as opportunities arise.
- Design products and systems that protect user privacy.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of industry experience architecting and developing internet-scale server software for Linux systems, including scalable microservices or data-driven platforms.
- Strong computer science fundamentals, including algorithms and data structures.
- Strong coding skills in Go, Java, Rust, C++, Scala, or a similar object-oriented or functional language.
- Hands-on experience designing and operating scalable microservices.
- Experience with search technologies such as Lucene, Solr, or Elasticsearch and expertise with NoSQL datastores such as Cassandra.
- Proficiency with data-processing technologies such as Kafka, Spark, or Flink and petabyte-scale data-processing methods.
- Experience with AWS services such as Amazon S3, EC2, and EKS/Kubernetes.
- Ability to solve complex problems and deliver complete systems end to end, independently or collaboratively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for working with technical and non-technical cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- Preferred: master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Preferred: experience with algorithmic search, machine learning, natural language processing, artificial intelligence, ad-serving, recommendation, retrieval, real-time bidding, ranking pipelines, strict latency and availability SLOs, privacy-preserving design, and distributed-systems fundamentals.
