Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Define technical requirements with product, business, and engineering stakeholders.
- Design, develop, and maintain Python applications and services for core platform workflows.
- Build and integrate scalable APIs and microservices for internal and external consumers.
- Own backend system design for reliability, scalability, maintainability, and operational excellence.
- Optimize performance using caching, message queues, distributed technologies, and event-driven architectures.
- Implement observability through logging, tracing, and metrics; troubleshoot production issues and improve resiliency.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering standards, best practices, and technical documentation.
- Collaborate with development, QA, and business teams to deliver high-quality releases.
- Use AI-powered development tools to improve productivity, code quality, and delivery speed.
- Build and productionalize LLM-enabled features such as workflow automation, intelligent routing, summarization, and extraction.
- Design tool/function-calling services and orchestration layers for multi-step tasks.
- Implement RAG-style retrieval using embeddings, vector search, and ranking where appropriate.
- Develop AI output evaluation and quality frameworks, including offline evaluations, regression tests, and safety and reliability checks.
- Collaborate on responsible AI practices involving guardrails, data handling, deterministic behavior, and auditability.
Requirements
- BA/BS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 5 years of professional Python development experience in production environments.
- Strong experience building asynchronous, API-driven microservices, including experience with FastAPI or asyncio.
- Experience with scalable backend architectures and service-to-service integrations.
- Understanding of distributed systems patterns such as queues, caching, pub/sub, and background processing.
- Understanding of authentication, authorization, and secure system design.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and containerized deployment workflows.
- Strong familiarity with Git and modern version control workflows.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional, fast-paced environments.
- Preferred experience integrating LLM APIs in production and building robust, testable AI-enabled services.
- Preferred familiarity with prompt design, structured outputs, tool/function calling, and conversation or workflow state management.
- Preferred experience with embeddings, vector databases, retrieval pipelines, ranking approaches, and AI evaluation harnesses.
- Preferred exposure to applied ML concepts such as classification, extraction, ranking, and personalization.
- Preferred experience with real-time or conversational interfaces and streaming systems.
- Proficiency in Spanish or another major marketplace language is preferred for multilingual AI evaluation.
- Preferred experience supporting high-traffic, consumer-facing applications.
