Responsibilities
- Own backend solutions from partner problem definition through production operation.
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable Java and Spring Boot services.
- Lead development in event-driven architectures using Kafka or similar messaging systems.
- Architect and optimize relational databases such as PostgreSQL for performance and scalability.
- Collaborate with product managers, partner banks, and engineering teams on integrations and system interfaces.
- Improve testing and observability, diagnose production issues, and strengthen service dependability.
- Participate in code reviews, share domain knowledge, and mentor junior engineers.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience building or substantially contributing to large-scale distributed systems.
- Strong backend engineering experience with relational databases, event-driven systems, and an object-oriented programming language.
- Ability to understand customer problems, explain why solutions matter, and use product metrics or data to assess impact.
- Ability to take ownership, work autonomously through ambiguity, and involve relevant experts.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, including explaining technical decisions across teams.
- Curiosity about funding, settlement, currency conversion, payments, or related business domains is useful.
- Experience with Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, PostgreSQL, payments, financial technology, funding, settlement, foreign exchange, or product metrics is useful.
