Base Salary
$246k - $339k/yr
Responsibilities
- Drive service-side re-architecture and shared-library changes required by the cell architecture.
- Decompose hundreds of microservices into subsystems with independent lifecycles and address horizontal scalability gaps.
- Own the environments application configuration-management framework and the services and libraries supporting private and isolated cloud deployments.
- Design and implement changes directly in product services while partnering with their owning teams.
- Set architecture patterns and reference implementations for product teams.
- Make configuration a runtime concern rather than embedding it in service code.
- Partner with Cloud Platform, SRE, and DevEx on service and platform boundaries.
- Raise the architectural bar, mentor Staff and Senior engineers, and embed AI tooling into daily development.
Requirements
- Deep hands-on architecture experience with microservice estates numbering in the hundreds.
- Strong Java and Python skills, with willingness to contribute to other technology stacks.
- Experience decomposing large service estates into independently evolving subsystems.
- Experience designing horizontal scalability across regions and independent deployments.
- Experience with cell-based, multi-tenant, or multi-region architectures.
- Strong cloud-native background with Kubernetes, containers, and AWS.
- Experience externalizing configuration and removing environment coupling from application code.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver significant code changes in systems owned by other teams.
- Ability to identify architectural limits before they become incidents and to design, lead, influence, and deliver ambitious technical roadmaps.
- Preferred experience with Vespa, private, isolated, on-premise, or air-gapped deployments, and shared libraries or internal frameworks used by many teams.
