Responsibilities
- Own the target architecture for the .NET Core microservices platform, including service boundaries, communication patterns, data ownership, and service evolution.
- Document architecture decisions, lead design reviews, and make technical decisions across multiple teams.
- Design REST, gRPC, and asynchronous messaging using Kafka and RabbitMQ with distributed-system resilience patterns.
- Define data strategy for PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB, and TimescaleDB, including schema design, indexing, connection handling, and scaling.
- Set observability standards for tracing, metrics, and logs using OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, Jaeger, and Loki.
- Shape Kubernetes deployment practices, including service mesh, service discovery, and blue/green and canary rollouts.
- Lead profiling, benchmarking, performance optimization, and bottleneck resolution across services.
- Set coding, testing, and CI/CD standards, mentor developers, and resolve complex production incidents.
Requirements
- 10+ years of backend development experience, including 4+ years designing and running microservices at scale.
- 3+ years in an architect, principal, or technical lead role making design decisions across multiple teams.
- Expert-level .NET Core, C#, and PostgreSQL experience.
- Strong experience with Domain-Driven Design, event-driven architecture, CQRS, and Event Sourcing.
- Deep knowledge of gRPC, Kafka or RabbitMQ, and resilience patterns in distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and container-based deployments.
- Experience building observability into distributed systems with OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, Jaeger, or similar tools.
- Proven performance profiling and optimization experience in large-scale systems.
- Experience designing on at least one cloud platform: AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Preferred experience with Istio, Consul, or another service mesh; Terraform or Helm; Redis, MongoDB, or TimescaleDB; and modernizing or splitting large systems into services.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical trade-offs to engineers and non-technical leaders.
