Responsibilities
- Develop sophisticated software architecture and algorithms for perception and motion-control systems in custom-hardware automation systems.
- Integrate manipulators, mobile robots, cloud components, human interfaces, and third-party robotic systems for logistics automation.
- Collaborate with automation engineers and execute priorities set by vice presidents.
- Break vague goals into concrete steps and manage timelines independently.
- Analyze problems and data, evaluate and deploy systems, and account for safety and stability.
- Collect data, analyze results, and quantitatively improve algorithms.
- Monitor issues, debug systems, and contribute to reliable product releases.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience with modern C++ and Python, plus clean software architecture skills.
- At least 5 years of experience in robotics, ROS, perception, and control algorithms.
- At least 2 years of experience deploying and maintaining robots in real-world environments.
- Experience with network communication using UDP, TCP, and DDS.
- Experience implementing combined hardware and software systems, with or without ROS.
- Strong interest in releasing stable and reliable technology and strong problem-solving, issue-monitoring, and debugging skills.
- Preferred experience writing and tuning motion controllers, controlling robotic manipulators, using inverse kinematics, and performing motion planning.
- Preferred experience with RGB-D sensors, computer vision, and AI/ML for perception systems.
- Preferred experience with low-level hardware communication, Open CAN, and embedded hardware.
- Preferred ability to manage subject-matter experts and set technical direction.
- Preferred success designing or testing products in robotics or a similar industry.
