Base Salary
$160k - $250k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and improve backend systems including APIs, microservices, data ingestion and processing systems, and distributed task or job processing systems.
- Write and maintain scalable, performant, secure, and maintainable code shared across platforms.
- Contribute to product development and improve core backend systems, engineering standards, tooling, and processes.
- Practice test-driven development and automated testing.
- Debug production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack.
- Participate in on-call rotations to resolve critical technical issues.
- Apply OWASP Top 10 techniques and follow information-asset protection policies.
- Report suspected security or policy violations or breaches.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience building scalable web applications.
- Experience or strong interest in developing applications with Node.js.
- Experience designing and implementing highly available distributed systems and microservices.
- Experience building platforms that expose scalable backend APIs.
- Deep experience with relational databases; Postgres is preferred.
- Understanding of monitoring and alerting platforms is a plus.
- Strong commitment to code quality, automated testing, and engineering best practices.
- Attention to detail, passion for correctness, comfort with ambiguity, and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
