Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate backend services for the Digital Asset Management platform.
- Develop metadata schemas, controlled vocabularies, faceted query APIs, and metadata extraction capabilities.
- Build asynchronous, scalable services for generating thumbnails, previews, and web-optimized asset variants.
- Design and build high-throughput production APIs and operate services in containerized cloud environments.
- Collaborate with content, publishing, and platform engineering teams on reliable content authoring and delivery systems.
- Contribute to taxonomy design, CDN configuration, storage optimization, and AI- or agentic engineering use cases.
- Mentor engineers and lead projects or technical design discussions.
Requirements
- 3+ years of software engineering experience focused on backend or distributed systems.
- Programming proficiency in Java and hands-on experience building services with Spring Boot.
- Experience with Digital Asset Management systems, content management systems, or media processing and transcoding pipelines.
- Experience with metadata and search layers, including schema modeling, controlled vocabularies, faceted query APIs, and metadata extraction.
- Experience building rendition and derivative-generation services orchestrated asynchronously at scale.
- Experience designing and building high-throughput production APIs.
- Experience with MongoDB and/or DynamoDB, including schema and data modeling for scale.
- Experience with Kafka or similar event-streaming or messaging systems.
- Experience with Solr or Elasticsearch.
- Experience deploying and operating services in AWS and EKS/Kubernetes environments.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills across cross-functional teams.
- Experience or interest in AI-driven metadata tagging, agentic workflows, LLM-powered automation, or MCP servers.
- Experience with CDN configuration and storage optimization, plus proficiency with Git.
- BS/MS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
