Base Salary
$189k - $250k/yr
Responsibilities
- Identify and solve inefficiencies in tooling, APIs, and feedback mechanisms for product engineers.
- Design, pitch, plan, measure, and iteratively implement productivity solutions, including large-scale code migrations using AI tools.
- Collaborate with product engineering teams to anticipate and address upcoming changes.
- Develop and maintain services, abstractions, and architecture supporting product engineering.
- Advance Kafka and Sidekiq for asynchronous processing and communication across Gusto applications.
- Harden asynchronous infrastructure for resilience under heavy loads and use LLMs to reduce incident resolution time.
Requirements
- Typically 10+ years of software development experience.
- Strong systems-thinking, communication, and architectural problem-solving abilities.
- Deep experience with Ruby and Rails, including developer tooling for large engineering teams.
- Experience with asynchronous processing using Sidekiq and/or Kafka.
- Proven success improving developer productivity through tooling, infrastructure enhancements, and strategic use of AI.
- Ability to collaborate with colleagues as both customers and partners.
