Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end design and development of backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
- Architect scalable, fault-tolerant distributed microservices with strong observability, resilience, and performance.
- Design REST and GraphQL APIs and type-safe API boundaries for frontend integration.
- Implement authentication and authorization using OAuth2, OIDC, JWT, and RBAC.
- Design event-driven systems using Kafka, SQS, and RabbitMQ, including topic design, schema evolution, and consumer scaling.
- Collaborate with React and TypeScript frontend teams on API contracts, data delivery, and authentication flows.
- Drive CI/CD improvements, containerization, deployment automation, monitoring, logging, and alerting.
- Participate in post-incident reviews and improve reliability through SLOs, SLIs, and error budgets.
- Lead technical initiatives, guide architectural decisions, conduct code reviews, and mentor backend engineers.
- Partner with Product, Design, Platform, and security teams to deliver robust technical solutions.
Requirements
- 10+ years of professional experience building highly scalable backend systems with Java, Spring Boot, and modern microservices patterns.
- Expertise in distributed systems, service-to-service communication, caching, and data consistency models.
- Proven experience designing and scaling APIs for large-scale applications.
- Strong experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, ORM frameworks, data modeling, and transactional and analytical workloads.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, containerization, and Kubernetes-based deployments; AWS experience is preferred.
- Strong foundation in testing methodologies, including unit, integration, and contract testing with tools such as JUnit, TestNG, and Mockito.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical projects with minimal supervision.
- Experience with event-driven architectures, streaming systems, real-time processing, SaaS environments, multi-tenant platforms, frontend-backend integration, distributed caching, circuit breaking, and resilience patterns is preferred.
