Responsibilities
- Diagnose and fix stability vulnerabilities causing cascading failures in core platform services.
- Implement leader election, circuit breakers, failure-domain isolation, and other resilience patterns in service code.
- Design multi-replica support for services that currently assume single-instance operation.
- Trace cascading failures across service boundaries and drive root-cause fixes.
- Collaborate with service owners on contract testing and upgrade validation.
- Improve observability platforms to support service stability.
- Make Terraform and Kubernetes changes supporting service fixes, approximately 20% of the role.
- Write and maintain production-quality Go in core platform services.
Requirements
- Production-quality Go development experience.
- Practical distributed-systems experience, including leader election, consensus, replication, and failure modes.
- Working knowledge of Kubernetes sufficient to understand how services run.
- Experience debugging complex systems and tracing cascading failures across service boundaries.
- At least 4 years of experience in SRE, platform engineering, or backend development roles.
- Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export-controlled information or facilities.
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
- Rust experience is preferred.
- Experience fixing reliability problems in production services is preferred.
- Familiarity with gRPC service architectures is preferred.
- Familiarity with HashiCorp Consul or similar service discovery or mesh technology is preferred.
- Experience in FedRAMP or IL5 compliance environments is preferred.
- Experience with ArgoCD or GitOps workflows is preferred.
