Base Salary
$210k - $325k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end development of internal tools that improve the safety of OpenAI’s models, including protections for vulnerable users.
- Partner with Safety Systems researchers, engineers, and model policy creators to understand workflows and translate requirements into durable product solutions.
- Build full-stack experiences for data labeling and inspection, failure-case analysis and review, and surfacing insights for iteration.
- Optimize internal applications for usability, speed, and scale to increase team velocity and reduce time to fix safety issues.
- Transform successful AI-assisted safety workflows into external-facing safety products for developers.
Requirements
- 5+ years of relevant engineering experience at technology and product-driven companies.
- Proficiency with JavaScript, React, and other web technologies.
- Proficiency with at least one backend language; the team uses Python.
- Experience with relational databases such as Postgres or MySQL.
- Interest in AI/ML; direct experience is not required.
- Ability and interest in partnering with researchers and policy writers to ship tools that improve model safety.
