Responsibilities
- Design, implement, test, document, and release embedded locomotive software while meeting software quality specifications.
- Resolve software issues from testing, production, and field operations through root-cause analysis and solution development.
- Perform software design and code reviews according to applicable standards and guidelines.
- Follow configuration-management, software change-management, defect-tracking, build, and release processes.
- Collaborate with systems engineering, product management, simulation, verification, validation, and electronic hardware teams.
- Mentor junior team members and work with program technical leads to execute project plans and deliver quality software.
- Write software requirements documentation and test plans.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering and at least 3 years of relevant experience, or a bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering and at least 5 years of relevant experience in software development.
- Hands-on experience with C and C++ programming or a similar language.
- Hands-on experience with Python and shell scripting.
- Design and development experience with at least one embedded, real-time software system, such as Linux, QNX, RTOS, MQX, or Green Hills.
- Experience with at least one Xilinx, ARM, PPC, Intel, or K60 processor.
- Experience with low-level hardware interfaces, including FPGAs and device drivers.
- Exposure to Serial, Arcnet, and Ethernet-based communications standards.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, advanced English communication, and the ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
- Desired knowledge of Matlab/Simulink, Agile and Waterfall development methodologies, and the ability to estimate development-task effort and solve problems resourcefully.
