Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and operations of highly scalable, distributed, data-intensive microservices.
- Partner with software architects, product managers, and engineering managers to design technical solutions supporting business outcomes.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, optimize, and help meet service-level agreements for large-scale microservices.
- Lead production incident detection, recovery, and postmortems.
- Mentor and help hire engineers while contributing to high-performing team development.
- Conduct design and code reviews and promote clean, maintainable code and engineering best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, and data management.
- Thorough knowledge of multithreading, concurrency, and parallel processing.
- Exceptional proficiency in Java, Golang, or a similar programming language.
- At least 10 years of experience building and running large-scale systems.
- Thorough understanding of database scalability, performance, and consistency characteristics, including systems such as MySQL and DynamoDB.
- Expertise in API design, microservices, stream processing, resilience, operational excellence, and modern technology stacks.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to synthesize and explain complex technical problems.
- Expertise with cloud infrastructure platforms such as AWS.
- Hands-on exposure to information retrieval using Lucene, Elasticsearch, or OpenSearch.
- Preferred: exposure to vector databases, ML infrastructure, knowledge graphs, graph databases, large-scale reliability improvement, and cloud security and compliance challenges.
