Base Salary
$211k - $302k/yr
Responsibilities
- Work on-site with government and national security clients across the DMV area, including classified environments.
- Own hands-on implementation of government cyber use cases alongside customer engineers, cyber operators, security practitioners, and technical owners.
- Lead technical discovery across red teaming, adversary emulation, vulnerability research, reverse engineering, threat hunting, detection engineering, incident response, and malware analysis.
- Build secure cyber prototypes, agentic workflows, and reference architectures using OpenAI models, APIs, Codex, and customer security tools and infrastructure.
- Design and run evaluations measuring technical correctness, security impact, reliability, and operator effectiveness.
- Establish success criteria, deliver measurable outcomes, and complete operational handoffs with government security leaders, mission teams, integrators, and internal teams.
- Contribute reusable code, examples, notebooks, implementation patterns, and technical guidance to internal, open-source, and enterprise resources.
- Translate customer deployments, operational insights, and evaluation results into feedback for Product, Engineering, and Research teams.
- Share knowledge, codify best practices, and help scale the Applied AI Engineering function.
Requirements
- Active TS/SCI clearance and current, active full-scope polygraph.
- At least 7 years of hands-on technical experience in cybersecurity, cyber operations, or security-focused software engineering, including direct work with government or national security mission teams.
- Practical offensive and defensive cybersecurity experience, with depth in areas such as red teaming, adversary emulation, vulnerability research, reverse engineering, threat hunting, or detection engineering.
- Experience supporting NSA or comparable national security cyber missions is strongly preferred.
- Hands-on experience writing code, integrating security tools, and building, testing, and deploying cyber capabilities or security automation with measurable outcomes.
- Understanding of secure network and cloud architecture, identity and least privilege, restricted operating environments, application-security toolchains, authorization boundaries, and human-approved remediation.
- Programming experience with Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Go, including integration of APIs, agents, command-line tools, and security platforms into reliable workflows.
- Ability to communicate complex technical findings to cyber practitioners, engineers, senior leaders, and nontechnical stakeholders.
- Ability to own problems end to end, learn unfamiliar tools and systems, and manage multiple concurrent projects with sound prioritization and technical execution.
- Collaborative approach with strong knowledge-sharing and customer-support orientation.
