Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and build high-performance distributed systems and platform components.
- Build scalable distributed-systems data-ingestion solutions and fault-tolerant transformation workflows.
- Develop foundational libraries, frameworks, and tools emphasizing modularity, extensibility, configurability, and maintainability.
- Provide technical leadership for complex, high-risk projects and define engineering best practices.
- Collaborate across engineering teams to refine requirements and deliver end-to-end solutions.
- Research and adopt technologies that improve platform capabilities.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose complex production issues across distributed systems.
- Operate and optimize Kubernetes-native distributed platforms, including release engineering and data-lake integrations.
Requirements
- 12+ years of hands-on engineering experience with a bachelor's degree, 8+ years with a master's degree, 6+ years with a PhD, or equivalent work experience.
- Deep expertise in distributed systems architecture, design patterns, algorithms, concurrency, networking, operating-system internals, and performance optimization.
- Advanced Java programming expertise, including JVM internals, memory models, garbage collection, profiling, and performance tuning.
- Hands-on expertise with Helm, including chart authoring, templating, and environment overlays.
- Experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems and relational databases such as Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
- Knowledge of security systems, methods, and protocols; replication; fault tolerance; high availability; and DevOps environments.
- Experience with Kubernetes, Apache Iceberg, Apache Kafka, Apache Flink, Apache Spark, and large-scale data-lake platforms.
- Expertise with Parquet, ORC, Avro, compaction, governance, scalable ingestion, transformation workflows, and integration with analytics engines, query services, or ML platforms.
- Ability to evaluate how AI can be integrated into engineering work, operational tooling, and workflow automation.
