Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify scalability requirements related to user growth and increasing data volume.
- Design and roll out monitoring best practices in Datadog, including SLI, SLO, and SLA practices.
- Research and implement service and storage improvements using serverless technologies while optimizing scalability, cost, performance, and development workflows.
- Develop and maintain internal tooling for monitoring, the Developer Portal, and load testing.
- Design and implement infrastructure autoscaling best practices and run chaos engineering experiments to improve service resilience.
- Mentor software development teams and provide reusable building blocks that improve scalability, reliability, and performance.
- Stay current with industry trends, tools, and techniques related to scalability and performance engineering.
Requirements
- Multiple years of experience with AWS and infrastructure as code, preferably Terraform.
- Solid experience with monitoring, container orchestration, and microservice environments.
- Working knowledge of Python, at least one additional general-purpose programming language, and build automation tools.
- Experience with Java or Kotlin, or JavaScript and Node.js, is preferred for the additional programming language.
- Strong understanding of scalable system design, distributed systems, and cloud technologies.
- Experience with GitHub Actions and Jenkins is beneficial.
- A relevant degree, such as in computer science, engineering, or the sciences, or work experience in a role that typically requires a university degree.
- Full professional proficiency in English and the ability to communicate concisely in an international English-speaking environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working effectively in cross-functional teams.
