Responsibilities
- Drive the architectural evolution from the custom routing layer to a modern service mesh such as Istio.
- Design, build, and maintain low-latency network components capable of sustaining millions of requests per second.
- Maintain the availability, resilience, and scalability of core Ingress, DNS, Service Mesh, and CDN services.
- Apply service-design and distributed-systems principles to scalable backend services and infrastructure tooling.
- Use AI for development, refactoring, testing, and documentation while applying judgment in critical infrastructure.
- Mentor engineers, document for technical and non-technical audiences, and participate in hiring.
Requirements
- Deep hands-on experience operating and evolving Kubernetes infrastructure as a backend or platform engineer.
- Experience designing and running mission-critical, high-throughput systems handling millions of requests per second.
- Strong knowledge of service design, distributed systems, and networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, proxies, and microservices communication.
- Comfort working with complex legacy systems and building replacement systems.
- Experience with .NET is a plus, and familiarity with Istio and Envoy is highly desired.
- Fluent use of AI tools in engineering work and sound judgment about their application.
- Ability to communicate and negotiate technical trade-offs across teams and with non-technical partners.
- Advanced English proficiency.
