Responsibilities
- Design and develop the platform and support activities for CERN’s Next Generation Triggers project.
- Design and develop CERN’s central machine-learning platform for experiments, campus services, and user communities.
- Identify, prototype, and benchmark AI use cases across heterogeneous computing infrastructures.
- Build and maintain an open-source AI/MLOps ecosystem covering model and agent lifecycle management, evaluation, and monitoring.
- Collaborate with open-source communities, industry partners, and CERN teams.
- Operate machine-learning services and support GPU- or accelerator-based training and inference workloads.
Requirements
- Maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in computing engineering or a related field.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree as the highest educational qualification; applicants without a university degree or with a PhD are not eligible.
- Experience with machine-learning systems and platforms, including practical operation of ML services.
- Strong knowledge of MLOps and cloud-native technologies, including Kubernetes, containers, observability, and model lifecycle management.
- Experience with GPU or accelerator-based workloads and performance optimization for training and inference.
- Familiarity with open-source ecosystems and interest in evaluating or contributing to community projects.
- Comfort with Linux-based systems and knowledge of system configuration tools.
- Ability to identify and select relevant emerging ICT technologies and apply software life-cycle tools and procedures.
- Spoken and written English and commitment to learn French.
- Must be a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State and must not previously have held a CERN fellow or graduate contract.
