Base Salary
$191k - $267k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and ship advertiser-facing AI features and platform capabilities from prototype through general availability.
- Architect agentic systems using appropriate combinations of LLM calls, workflows, retrieval, tools, agent loops, human review, or non-AI approaches.
- Build reliability, safety, and trust mechanisms including structured outputs, tool boundaries, retries, cost controls, tracing, evaluations, data isolation, permissioning, auditability, and policy compliance.
- Define offline and online evaluations, instrument systems, run A/B tests, and measure advertiser and business outcomes.
- Partner with Product Management, Design, Data Science, ML Platform, Trust, sales, and operations to turn ambiguous problems into shippable systems.
- Write design documentation, communicate technical trade-offs, and help establish strong generative AI engineering practices.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of software engineering experience shipping and operating production systems.
- Hands-on experience building generative AI applications involving structured outputs, function or tool calling, prompt and context design, retrieval-augmented generation, model routing, and model failure handling.
- Strong systems fundamentals including APIs, distributed systems, queues, data stores, service ownership, authentication, idempotency, retries, and observability.
- Experience defining evaluations and measurement for AI systems using offline datasets, online metrics, and launch quality bars.
- Experience using AI coding tools and code-assistant workflows in day-to-day engineering.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, including working effectively in a remote environment.
- Extensive software development experience in one or more general-purpose languages such as Python, Golang, Rust, Java, or JavaScript.
- Preferred experience includes Ads, marketing technology, marketplaces, growth, recommendations, search, analytics, costly-error AI systems, or internal workflow automation.
