Responsibilities
- Participate in application systems analysis, design, construction, testing, implementation, and operational support.
- Design and develop Scala-related data pipelines, REST APIs, ETL pipelines, and services using Big Data technologies.
- Build and maintain scalable file-based and streaming data-processing pipelines with Kafka integration.
- Develop security measures and perform post-implementation analysis to support system functionality and business usage.
- Analyze complex application, business-process, and system issues and recommend advanced programming solutions.
- Consult with users, clients, business stakeholders, and technology groups on application and data solutions.
- Migrate Ab Initio workloads to Python and support Hadoop-centric scheduling environments.
- Use Git-based workflows, automated testing, artifact and version management, and environment promotion practices.
- Advise or coach new and lower-level analysts and serve as a subject-matter expert to stakeholders and team members.
Requirements
- Seven years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor’s or university degree, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in Big Data engineering using Scala, Java, or Python.
- Experience designing and developing Scala data pipelines and REST APIs.
- Deep knowledge of Spark and the Scala API.
- Experience with Hadoop and Hadoop-centric schedulers.
- Hands-on Ab Initio experience with graphs, plans, PDL, and DML, plus a track record of designing and developing ETL pipelines and services.
- Experience migrating Ab Initio workloads to Python.
- Strong experience processing data at scale across file-based and streaming pipelines with Kafka integration.
- CI/CD expertise including Git-based workflows, automated testing, artifact and version management, and environment promotion.
- Experience managing and implementing successful projects, with working knowledge of consulting and project management techniques.
- Practical use of AI engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot and code assistants or agents in daily development and reviews.
- Ability to manage deadlines, unexpected changes, and work under pressure, with excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
