Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain reliable embedded software for spacecraft and ground-based satellite systems.
- Implement secure communications capabilities, including encryption, authentication, and key exchange.
- Build and maintain device drivers, kernel modules, hardware interfaces, and platform services.
- Develop automated tests, validation tools, and technical documentation.
- Participate in architecture discussions, design reviews, and code reviews.
- Collaborate with software, hardware, and operations teams on requirements, debugging, and system architecture.
- Identify and improve performance, reliability, and architectural issues across the software stack.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior engineers.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience developing embedded software for complex, high-reliability systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong fundamentals in system design, debugging, testing, performance analysis, and maintainable software development.
- Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems, including concurrency, interrupt handling, memory-mapped peripherals, and SPI, I2C, UART, and CAN interfaces.
- Experience with embedded Linux and/or RTOS environments, including Yocto/OpenEmbedded and FreeRTOS.
- Experience developing embedded Linux kernel modules, device drivers, and device tree integrations.
- Experience developing automated test frameworks, validation tooling, or hardware/software integration test environments.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Git-based version control and code review practices.
- Master’s degree in a related field is a bonus.
- Aerospace software experience, embedded security experience, Linux networking knowledge, multi-stage bootloader experience, networking protocol knowledge, and RTL experience with Verilog and/or VHDL and embedded SoCs are bonuses.
