Base Salary

$107k - $161k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Architect and lead end-to-end design and development of major features for Citi’s flagship Android application.
  • Serve as the primary Android technical authority and define technical direction, engineering standards, and platform practices.
  • Use Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, Android architecture patterns, and related tooling to build scalable mobile experiences.
  • Diagnose and resolve critical defects and performance issues involving memory management, rendering, battery efficiency, and runtime speed.
  • Coach and mentor junior and mid-level Android engineers and raise engineering capability across the team.
  • Partner with Product Managers, UI/UX Designers, and backend engineers to translate business and user requirements into mobile experiences.
  • Evaluate testing strategies, development processes, and delivery workflows to improve engineering velocity and release quality.
  • Assess technical and operational risk in alignment with security, compliance, and platform reliability standards.
  • Lead technical decisions across cross-functional engineering teams and manage dependencies in large-scale delivery environments.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of professional experience building native Android applications.
  • Expertise in Kotlin and modern Android architecture patterns, including MVVM, Clean Architecture, and unidirectional data flow.
  • Deep hands-on knowledge of the Android SDK, Android Studio, Gradle, and Jetpack libraries, including Jetpack Compose.
  • Experience configuring and optimizing complex multi-module builds.
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve production performance issues involving memory, rendering, and battery consumption.
  • Experience shipping or maintaining at least one application on the Google Play Store with accountability for release quality.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience leading technical decisions in a formal or informal capacity across cross-functional engineering teams is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with agile and waterfall delivery models and experience managing dependencies in large-scale engineering environments is beneficial.
  • Mobile engineering experience in regulated industries such as financial services is beneficial.
