Responsibilities
- Design and extend production-grade LLM applications and agentic workflows, including retrieval, intent detection, clarification, fulfillment, escalation, and human-in-the-loop flows.
- Build and maintain the conversation engine, flow validation, configuration tooling, and administration experience.
- Integrate tool-use and agentic protocols and evaluate, benchmark, and tune models across multiple providers.
- Build resilience through retries, fallback routing, caching, streaming, and rate limiting, while troubleshooting hallucinations, retrieval failures, prompt regressions, model drift, and provider outages.
- Build player-facing and support-agent-facing React experiences and administer flows, intents, releases, translations, prompts, and evaluations.
- Write automated tests, build observability and alerting, diagnose performance bottlenecks, participate in on-call rotations, and maintain architectural documentation and runbooks.
Requirements
- Proven experience building and operating production LLM-powered systems such as chatbots, AI assistants, agent copilots, RAG systems, or LLM orchestration platforms.
- Strong TypeScript and Node.js engineering skills, including strict-mode TypeScript.
- Hands-on experience with prompt engineering, RAG pipelines, agent design, tool calling, model evaluation, observability, and failure-mode analysis.
- Full-stack experience across backend APIs, React UIs, databases, infrastructure, and production operations.
- Ability to evaluate tradeoffs among model quality, latency, reliability, throughput, and cost, and troubleshoot across prompts, retrieval, models, infrastructure, and application code.
- Experience modeling complex asynchronous workflows, with state-machine experience preferred.
- Understanding of REST API design and asynchronous and caching strategies, plus a strong unit, integration, and contract testing culture.
- Experience working in a monorepo with multiple interconnected services.
- Bonus: experience with MCP or other agentic tool-use protocols, semantic search and retrieval architectures, AI gateways, LLM observability and evaluation platforms, multiple foundation-model providers, AI copilots or assistants, low-latency or streaming products, or NestJS.
- Background in customer support or player-support platforms, gaming, or high-volume consumer products is a bonus.
