Responsibilities
- Design and implement monitoring and alerting for data platforms and resolve issues affecting data pipelines and storage layers.
- Develop automation for deployment, monitoring, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery.
- Optimize data storage, query performance, data flows, latency, and processing speed.
- Respond to data platform failures, troubleshoot production issues, and coordinate incident resolution across teams.
- Forecast capacity needs and scale infrastructure to support data growth.
- Document data platform architecture, configurations, and operational procedures and provide team training.
- Ensure data platforms meet security and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with data engineering, data science, product, and development teams on reliable data products and implementations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent coursework and experience or extensive related professional experience.
- At least 8 years of experience as an SRE, DevOps Engineer, or Data Operations Engineer.
- Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure and modern data architectures.
- Experience with big data platforms and distributed storage technologies such as Kafka, Hadoop, Spark, Cassandra, and AWS S3.
- Extensive database management experience with NoSQL databases, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
- Proficiency with Ansible, Terraform, Kubernetes, and Docker for data system deployment and maintenance.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, programming in Python, Go, Java, or Scala, and monitoring and log management tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK Stack.
- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Preferred qualifications include Aerospike, Kafka, Snowflake, large-scale distributed systems, data quality, data governance, ETL pipelines, and audience targeting or identity services experience.
