Responsibilities
- Design, implement, test, deploy, and maintain scalable Java and Spring Boot microservices and integrations.
- Develop resilient Kafka producers and consumers with topic design, partitioning, schema evolution, replay, ordering, and dead-letter handling.
- Design and evolve enterprise data-platform capabilities covering acquisition, ingestion, validation, transformation, storage, serving, governance, and consumption.
- Build efficient SQL schemas, queries, transactions, indexing strategies, and data lifecycle practices for transactional, analytical, and operational workloads.
- Create automated unit, integration, contract, performance, and regression tests while championing test-driven development.
- Instrument applications and data flows for logging, metrics, tracing, alerting, operational observability, and data-quality monitoring.
- Own features and data capabilities end-to-end, including product trade-offs, production support, maintenance, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with product managers, business stakeholders, QA, infrastructure, data, security, design, and operations teams.
- Mentor peers on TDD, domain-driven design, event-driven architecture, data-platform design, and software craftsmanship.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of professional software engineering experience at a software product company; consultancy experience must include product engineering in healthcare payments or similar domains.
- Strong test-driven development experience, including unit and integration testing and test-automation suites.
- Strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot for production-grade APIs, microservices, and integrations.
- Hands-on Apache Kafka and event-driven architecture experience, including resilient producers and consumers, topic design, schema management, and troubleshooting.
- Strong SQL experience with relational database design, query optimization, transactions, data modeling, and enterprise data-system integration.
- Experience designing or contributing to enterprise-scale data platforms across acquisition, ingestion, storage, processing, governance, and consumption.
- Experience deploying services to Azure or other cloud platforms and using modern DevOps practices, containerization, infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, and observability.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to collaborate across functions and explain technical topics in business language.
- Preferred qualifications include a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
- Preferred experience includes cloud-native data services, data lakes or warehouses, stream processing, schema registries, data-mesh concepts, micro-frontend architecture, design systems, healthcare or payment processing, and generative AI for engineering productivity.
